GE Energy: Optimizing In Asia

A new Customer Application Center in Singapore will provide hands-on learning for industrial customers.

GE Energy’s Optimization and Control business has opened a Customer Application Center (CAC) in Singapore. This is the first CAC in Asia by the company, and the second of several being implemented globally.

With the new CAC, GE Energy aims to provide tailored solutions to Asia customers by featuring plant asset management, plant distributed control and reliability solutions. It will also allow customers in Asia to gain awareness of technology trends within the plant optimization and control arena. Industry sectors targeted include power generation, oil and gas, pulp and paper, cement and mining.

“This is a growth business,” said Brian Palmer, General Manager, GE Energy, who was present at the July 12 opening along with other GE executives and officials from Singapore’s Economic Development Board (EDB). “The CAC will allow our customers to see and feel the equipment and be exposed to demonstrations and training sessions.”

Indeed, the 15,000-square foot Singapore CAC includes a product demonstration center and an adjacent training center, providing customers with educational programs, conferences, custom product training and hands-on operation of plant asset management equipment and plant control system software.

Closer to customers

A plant operations simulation environment allows customers to learn and familiarize themselves with the available technologies and support their decisions for improvements in productivity and reliability back at their plants. The CAC also hosts a remote machinery diagnostics centre and a facility for engineering and stage testing of machinery protection and control solutions.

“The Singapore CAC opening, the first of two in Asia, is further evidence of GE Energy’s commitment to meeting customer expectations and providing leading technology and support both prior to and after the sale closer to our customers,” said Daniel Heintzelman, president of GE Energy’s services business

GE Energy’s Optimization and Control business is headquartered in Minden, Nevada, and provides a portfolio of products and services encompassing controls, condition monitoring, reliability, oil and gas exploration technologies and nuclear instrumentation. It serves both energy producers and energy users in a variety of industrial segments globally.
