Metso to Acquire Mapag Valves

Metso Automation (www.metsoautomation.com) , a Helsinki, Finland-based automation supplier, and The Linde Group (www.linde.com) , a Munich, Germany-based gases and engineering company, have signed a purchase agreement by which Metso will acquire Mapag Valves GmbH, a manufacturer of high-performance butterfly valves for the petrochemical, air separation and liquefied natural gas (LNG) industries.

In connection with the deal, Metso and Linde have also signed a long-term partnership agreement.

Mapag Valves operates a factory in Horgau, near Munich. It employs around 100 persons, with 2008 net sales estimated to be around $56 million.

“With the acquisition, Metso supports its strategy to complement the product offering for the energy and hydrocarbon industries,” says Pasi Laine, president, Metso Automation. “It also improves Metso Automation’s market position in the fast-growing industrial markets, such as industrial gas and liquefied natural gas. The partnership agreement enables [us] to deepen the customer relationship and technology cooperation with The Linde Group.”
