Edda Trykk, owned by Amedia AS, publishes 78 print titles in various countries, including Norway and Russia.
“By replacing obsolete components, Honeywell will help our Stokke site continue printing newspapers on the existing presses into the 2020s,” says Nils Morten Vestskogen, plant manager for Edda Trykk.
The shaftless drive system will be modernized from an optical Sercos II network to an Ethernet-based Sercos III network with new drives and motors. Redundancy will be added by separating the tower pairs’ drive networks, thereby reducing the risk of drive failures.
The upgrade includes:
• Existing Bitbus I/O devices changed to commercial Profibus I/O.
• Controllers of the towers and folders upgraded to Honeywell Field Controller.
• Modernization of the safety system to comply with current standards.
