Smar Launches New DCS

The Brazilian company Smar Equipamentos Industriais has launched the System 302-7, a new version of its control and automation systems based on networks.

“The new System 302-7 has its infrastructure based in Ethernet, a standardized communication protocol,” said César Cassiolato, Smar marketing director. “Internet connectivity makes possible complete unit administration from a central control room, whether it is a local area network or in areas dispersed globally. The system’s totally digital platform supports several standard buses and protocols, including AS-interface, DeviceNet, Foundation Fieldbus, Hart, Modbus, Profibus DP and Profibus PA.”

The System 302-7 targets several industry segments including chemical, petrochemical, oil and gas, mining, sugar and ethanol, and food and beverage, among others.

“The System 302-7 goes beyond the traditional distributed control system (DCS) that has plant control and monitoring function,” explained Cassiolato. “Highlights of the new system include: digital architecture, distributed system, process automation controllers connected in high-speed network, multipurpose, control strategies in functional blocks, standards, flexibility, multi-protocol, OPC (an open connectivity standard) total connectivity, templates and functional models, assets and processes management, MES (manufacturing execution system) integrated solutions, multi-user environment as master/slave integrated, and redundancy in several levels.”

The new Smar system is available worldwide.
