{mosimage} Two units ofDresser Inc. (www.dresser.com), the Addison, Texas-based energy equipment and services company, have recently won bids to supply valves to two new Brazilian process plants.
Dresser Consolidated, a brand of Dresser Inc., won the contract from the Brazilian consortium Conpar, formed by engineering and construction companies Odebrecht, UTC and ITS, for the supply of 240 relief and safety valves.
“These instruments will be installed in the new units of the gasoline refinery Presidente Getúlio Vargas Repar, located in Araucária, Brazil. Repar was opened in 1977 and has current capacity of 189,000 barrels per day. Last June, the company initiated production tests of H-Bio—a new process for diesel oil production from vegetable oil. Repar is one of the first producers of this new diesel,” says Claudio Makarovsky, general manager at Dresser Indústria e Comércio,
Flow Technologies.
Another Dresser win, by the Dresser Masoneilan unit, was in partnership with Yokogawa South America. The partners will supply Braskem, the Sao Paulo-based petrochemical giant, in a contract that includes 160 control valves and 90 relief and safety valves for use in the world’s first “green” ethylene plant.
“With investments approved for more than US$200 million, Braskem’s green polyethylene plant will have production capacity of 200 thousand tons per year of ethylene and polyethylene from sugar cane,” says Makarovsky. The unit will be installed in the petrochemical plant, in Rio Grande do Sul state, next to Plant 2 of Petrochemical Basic of Braskem, which will start operations in early 2011.
