OEM: Micro Controllers Deliver Power

Hitting a sweet spot for stand-alone machine applications with fewer than 48 I/Os, the new family of controllers offers quick programming and reduced installation time.

This new controller family consists of the Allen-Bradley Micro810 and Micro830 models, and provides embedded USB and serial ports. With the ability to be configured from a 1.5 in. LCD and keypad, the 810 offers 8 discrete inputs and 4 discrete outputs, with 4 analog input channels that can be replaced with discrete inputs. The Micro830 provides up to six, high-speed counter inputs and offers as many as five plug-in modules.

Also part of the announcement is the new Connected Components Workbench software. It follows establishedIEC-61131 standards: ladder diagram, function block diagram and structured text. The software allows machine builders to program the family of controllers and configure other devices in the system, including PowerFlex drives and PanelView Component HMI products. The software comes in two versions: standard and developer. The developer features run-time download, user-defined function blocks and controller simulation. See the free software download.
