ICM8 offers RS232 and RS485 serial ports and a 10 Base-T/100 Ethernet port, and is designed as an inexpensive alternative to proprietary COMMS cards. The ICM8 enables monitoring of multiple disparate devices and performs conversions of numerous protocols simultaneously via a built-in driver list. This allows easy data mapping to PLCs, PCs and SCADA systems. According to Product Manager Jeff Thornton, the ICM8 is a perfect solution for engineers who are looking for an inexpensive solution for “Ethernet enabling” their installed base of the vendor’s temperature control and PAX Panel Meter products.
