HARTING has expanded its Han HPR heavy duty power connector lineup with passive UHF RFID-equipped housings that lets users track data they define about the unit, like part numbers for requisitioning or purchasing replacements. Accessing configuration and parts information via RFID is a faster and easier way of tracking inventory and handling maintenance issues. The Han HPR RFID comes in sizes 6B, 10B, 16B and 24B. The integrated transponder has a read range of one meter and enjoys the same IP68/69K protection as the locked Han HPR housing. This is the first HARTING connector with embedded RFID with more to come, representing another step in the integration of hardware with business IT systems to manage operations more efficiently.
Han HPR connectors are used primarily for external electrical interconnections in railway rolling stock and other vehicles, in highly demanding environments and wet areas or where sensitive interconnections have to be shielded. They offer optimum protection against external physical influences: harsh weather, extreme temperature fluctuations as well as corrosive liquids such as cleaning chemicals or oils. The rugged Han HPR is designed to be impermeable to moisture, humidity, dust and dirt throughout the connector’s useful life. This is achieved using materials and seals that are UV and ozone resistant and function within a temperature range of -40° C to +125° C.
