11 U.S. routes proposed for next-generation transit system.

Who’s ready to travel in a capsule that careens through a tube at speeds of upwards of 700mph? Hyperloop One, one of the startups building serial entrepreneur Elon Musk’s vision for next-generation transportation, is inching one step closer to reality with its latest plans that call for 11 possible routes of travel.

The company, which is aiming to begin public trials this June on a two-mile track in Nevada, is currently evaluating 11 U.S. route proposals for the high-speed transit system, including those in Massachusetts, connecting Boston and Providence; a 1,152-mile route between Cheyenne, Wyoming and Houston, Texas; and a 121-mile stretch between Los Angeles and San Diego, California, among other proposals, according to an article on Futurism.com.

The proposed routes come on the heels of a全球性挑战Hyperloop一众包的提议specific areas that would build out its futuristic system, the article said. Hyperloop received over 2,600 submissions and the startup narrowed the field to 11 finalists who presented their route proposals to federal regulators at a recent event in Washington.

In a separate show of progress, Hyperloop One is planning to launch its public trial—what company officials call its “Kitty Hawk moment”—on the two-mile track in Nevada by the end of June.

Buckle up people. It’s certain to be a wild and crazy ride.
