北京电子(www.beijerelectronics.com), a Malmo, Sweden-based supplier ofhuman-machine interface(HMI) products, announced on Oct. 22 that it has acquiredQSI Corp. (www.qsicorp.com), Salt Lake City, a manufacturer of industrial HMI and mobile data terminals. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“With the acquisition of QSI Corp., we get a strong presence in North America, which is a strategically important market for Beijer Electronics. Among other positive things, we see great potential with the extended product portfolio designed for demanding environments and for mobile applications," said Magnus Ekerot, Business Area Director of HMI Products for Beijer.
QSI Corp. will be known as Beijer Electronics Inc., and will become the North American subsidiary of Beijer Electronics, according to a separate announcement made by QSI. The company will continue to offer its rugged line of terminals in both the industrial and vehicle markets along with Beijer Electronics’ hardware and software.
Beijer Electronics, a publicly traded company, has offices in 16 countries and is best known for its iX Software platform and their line of HMI terminals. QSI Corp. is mainly active in the North American market, with about 70 employees and a turnover of approximately $20 million, according to the Beijer announcement.
In the announcement, Beijer said the acquisition of QSI Corp. means:
